- Present Accurate Research Findings: Objectively discuss the significance of findings and avoid falsification or misrepresentation of data.
- Ensure Accurate Authorship: Include only those who qualify for authorship and clearly state their contributions.
- Disclose Conflicts of Interest: Provide transparent disclosure of financial or non-financial conflicts.
- Detail Data and Methods: Ensure methods and data are replicable and provide raw data unless confidentiality prohibits it.
- Avoid Simultaneous Submissions: Do not submit manuscripts under review elsewhere.
- Publish Only Novel Work: Submit original and unpublished work; translations must comply with our translation policy.
- Obtain Copyright Permissions: Secure permissions for previously published materials.
- Correct Errors: Promptly communicate post-publication inaccuracies.
Authorship Criteria APJSME follows the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE) guidelines. Authors must meet all the following criteria:
- Substantial contributions to the conception, design, or analysis of the work.
- Drafting or critically revising for intellectual content.
- Final approval of the version to be published.
- Accountability for all aspects of the work.
Contributors who do not meet these criteria should be acknowledged. Changes to authorship require unanimous approval of all authors and are subject to editorial discretion.
Special Notes for Authors
- Plagiarism: APJSME uses plagiarism detection tools to ensure originality. Cases of plagiarism, including self-plagiarism, will result in rejection.
- Conflict of Interest Disclosure: Authors must disclose all potential sources of bias during submission, which will be included in the final publication.
- Co-author Notification: All authors must be informed of the submission and agree to its content.
Policy on Retraction: Retractions serve to maintain scientific integrity, addressing articles presenting fraudulent claims, plagiarism, or major methodological flaws identified after publication. The process for issuing retractions ensures fairness, granting authors the opportunity to respond to complaints. This systematic approach upholds scientific discourse's credibility and protects scholarly communication's integrity.
Policy on Digital Preservation: Digital copies of APJSME publications are meticulously organized across various platforms, including cloud storage and external drives, enhancing accessibility and safeguarding against potential data loss. This comprehensive approach ensures the longevity and availability of invaluable scientific resources for future research endeavors.
Policy on Handling Complaints: Complaints concerning intellectual property infringement, inaccuracies, or libel are rigorously examined. Potential outcomes involve either retraction of inaccurate material or affirmation of its legitimacy. Each decision is systematically recorded, upholding due process and preserving the integrity of the scientific community.
Policy on Use of Human Subjects in Research: Research involving human subjects mandates strict adherence to ethical standards, notably obtaining Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval. To ensure compliance, authors are required to submit either a Certificate of Approval or an exemption statement alongside their manuscript for evaluation.
Research Authorization or Permit Requirement Authors must provide relevant permits or approvals for:
- Human subjects research: Ethics clearance and NCIP permit (if applicable).
- Genetic material studies: Biosafety permit.
- Animal studies: Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) clearance.
- Studies in protected areas: Gratuitous Permit from DENR.
Policy on Conflicts of Interest All authors, editors, and reviewers are required to transparently disclose potential conflicts of interest; unbiased research is essential for publication.
