History of Journal
First published in print annually in December 2006, The Langkit Journal was established to meet the accreditation requirements of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) during the initial evaluation of the College of Arts and Social Sciences. Dr. Luz C. Sevidal-Castro of the Sociology Department served as its inaugural editor-in-chief. After a temporary publication hiatus in 2008, the journal was revived in 2011 under the leadership of Dr. Nelia G. Balgoa from the English Department. In 2017, the University formally recognized it as an official institutional publication. To reflect its expanding academic scope, the journal was renamed the Langkat Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities in 2022. In 2024, it went online and ceased its publication in print. In 2025, it started publishing biannually to accommodate the increasing number of submissions.
