About the Journal

The Asia-Pacific Journal of Social Innovation (APJSI) builds on a long and evolving intellectual tradition, making it one of the enduring scholarly platforms in the Philippines and the broader Asia-Pacific region. The journal traces its origins to The Technician, with its first volume published in 1982, marking the beginning of what is now 44 years of continuous scholarly contribution. It was later renamed The Mindanao Forum, reflecting an expanded institutional and regional focus, before taking its current form as the Asia-Pacific Journal of Social Innovation.

These changes and the transition to its current title signals a stronger engagement with contemporary debates on social innovation and a broader regional outlook, while maintaining its commitment to grounded, locally informed scholarship. In this way, the journal’s evolution reflects its growth from a campus-based publication into a platform that bridges local knowledge with wider Asia-Pacific and global conversations.
